Spirituality has many, often vague definitions and understandings. Spirituality is an understanding of the supernatural and the desire for personal growth and reconciling your spirit with God’s energy. A spiritual person can be described as one questing for sacred understandings by expanding their own belief system. Spirituality is truly all matters concerning Spirit!! Spirituality has been intertwined in religion since religion was documented in the many holy scriptures. Modern spirituality is a blend of humanistic psychology, mystical traditions, esoteric traditions, and Eastern philosophy.
Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam all have spiritual aspects and components in their understandings and expressions. Religion consists of rules, prayers, religious clothing, holidays, shabbat, reading of religious texts, and dietary restrictions. Spiritual practice focuses on purifying ego centeredness and directing one’s abilities at the Divine. Spirituality is used to re-center man and his activities around God. As we begin to reconcile our Spirit with God centered ideas and principles, we begin to practice spirituality.
The question of ‘is spirituality for everyone’, the answer is only if you have a pulse.
